Creosote [Wet]
Amongst the chaparral - the plants that thrive in the high desert of West, TX and the Big Bend region - one plant reigns over the rest when it comes to scent and aura. Desert creosote is a chameleon of a plant. Warm, spicy and leathery when dry, but as soon as the clouds begin to churn around the Chisos range and the squall starts to move in, the creosote picks up the moisture and humidity in the air and gives off the most floral petrichor you’ve ever experienced.
As this July was one of the wettest rainy seasons that the park has experienced in decades, it seemed only fitting to include two presentations of this desert botanical.
Creosote (Wet) opens with a bright citrusy hit of bergamot, spicy ginger and a touch of eucalyptus to evoke that unique desert petrichor scent that fills the air at the first sign of a gathering desert storm. As it burns, watery cyclamen and creosote billow forward on a stream of tarragon and sage — paying homage to the way the arroyos fill so quickly with the falling rain. Dry creek beds come alive again as the base notes of cedar and oak moss round out this absolutely unique scent experience. You would swear you’re in the middle of the monsoon.
For an even stronger scent story in your home, we highly recommend burning this and Creosote (Dry) together and let the two scents weave together as if a squall was moving right through your space. Incredible for meditation and ritual.
